Caption: One of the one-man submarines involved in the multiple attack made by these mechanisms on 21 April 1944 at Peter Beach, Anzio Beachhead area, Italy. The 17-year old German Nazi pilot of this one was captured. Commander W.L. Messmer, Commander Escort Sweeper Group, describes the submarine in his "Report of Action Against One-man Submarines" (PC558/P16-1 SS .66), 23 April 1944.
