Two Master Compasses
Title: Two Master Compasses
Caption: Shortly after the installation of the first Sperry Gyroscopic Compass on a U.S. naval vessel, a school was instituted in the Sperry Building where officers and men from the naval fleet might receive instructions. In the short time of two months they were thoroughly taught the theory of operation and the practical work of assembling and balancing gyroscopic compasses. The two Master Compasses in this photograph may convey some idea of the intricate mechanism of these instruments. The Sperry Gyroscope Co., Brooklyn, New York.
