Title: USS DELAWARE figurehead, reassembled
Caption: Stripped of appendages such as arrows, feathers, and tomahawk head to prevent damage while being used as the pattern for a mold, the original figurehead is shown reassembled on a temporary wooden pedestal at the Naval Gun Factory. The figurehead of Tamanend, Chief of the Delaware Indians, from USS DELAWARE has been incorrectly called by several names, among them Tecumseh. Both it and its bronze replica cast from the mold are (in 1967)+C135 located at the Naval Academy.
Description: Received from Naval Gun Factory (Navy Yard) and located at Naval Historical Display Center.
