Title: Chief of Naval Operations Personal Flag
Caption: SecNav Paul H. Nitze presented the new personal CNO flag to Admiral David L. McDonald. The blue and white flag bears a recently adopted Navy seal: eagle perched on a gold anchor and surrounded by 50 links of gold anchor chain. Flag was designed by Dr. Thomas W. McKnew of National Geographic Society. Flag was put into service on 1 January 1965.
