Caption: Portrait of Isaac Peral Y Caballero Oil painting by unknown artist. Gift of L. Siravegne. Lt. invented submarine which bears his name, born in Cartagena on 1 June 1851, died in Berlin on 23 May 1895. Served in Bardo (1872). 1882 was appointed professor of physics and chemistry of the Academia De Amplicion De Marina Navy Development Academy. On 23 Oct 1887 began construction of torpedo submarine Pearl in La Carraca Shipyard. It was launced on 8 September 1888. He ia also credited with inventing a storage battery, a searchlight an electric machine gun and a launching way for torpedoed. Received from Museo Maritimo in Barcelona Spain
