Caption: Third from left is rear Admiral Charles P. Plunkett, Commandant of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, 1922- 1925. Others are not identified at this time. Admiral Plunkett is best known as commanding officer of the U.S Naval Railroad Battery which served on the western from in France during World War I. While commandant of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, he was frequently in the news because of his campaigns to close down the " Speakeasies" in the area adjacent to the yard. His pressure on the local police led to reorganizations and the suspension of some of their officers. (Above info furnished from Capt. Kirk No other Avail.)
