Caption: Shown following restoration as a Japanese National Monument in 1960. The ship rests in concrete at Yokosuka, Japan. The 61-year old battleship was rededicated as a Japanese National Monument at restoration ceremonies beside the ship, 27 May 1961, former Japanese Imperial Navy Day. Prince Yoshi, second son of the Emperor, and high government and U.S. Navy officials attended, including: Rear Admiral E.E. Yeomans, USN, Commander Naval Forces Japan; Vice Admiral Charles D. Griffin, USN, Commander, U.S. Seventh Fleet; and Rear Admiral Kemp Tolley, USN (Ret). Admiral Tolley represented the Secretary of the Navy.
