Title: IQUITOS (Peruvian River Gunboat, 1875-1967)
Caption: Photographed circa 1942. This ship was built in France in 1875, rebuilt in 1896, acquired by the Navy in 1900, and modernized in 1936. Between 1900 and circa 1908, she was often called VELOZ, which may have been her mercantile name. She served on the Upper Amazon River. IQUITOS had a very long career, serving in the Peruvian Navy from 1876 until the early 1960s.
