Description: (Replica exploration ship) In the Hudson River, New York, during the Hudson-Fulton Celebration, circa September-October 1909. She was a speculative replica, built in The Netherlands, of the Halve Maen (or Half Moon), the Dutch ship in which Henry Hudson explored the North American Atlantic Coast from Nova Scotia to the Chesapeake Bay during the Summer of 1609. Beyond Half Moon, in the left center, is the replica of Robert Fulton's pioneering steamboat Clermont, of 1809. U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command Photograph.
