Caption: A squadron of U.S. gunboats (#s 5, 23, 156, 162, and 163) was engaged and captured by the British on Borgne Lake, Louisiana. Under the command of Lieutenant Thomas Jones the force was defeated but succeeded in delaying the British attack on New Orleans for nine days.
