NH 56869 The Surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown, October 1781

The Surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown, October 1781
Title: The Surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown, October 1781
Caption: In a field ringed by French Hussars, the British and German regiments arrived one by one to present arms, etc. and return to Yorktown. People of the neighborhood were allowed to witness the surrender ceremonies, and many of Washington's officers excused themselves to watch the events on the surrender field, but Washington apparently remained at his post a few hundred yards away, and the troops presumably kept their formations along the road.
