Caption: Chinese Ambassador Dr. Wellington Koo, hands the first piece of cake to Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, USN (CNO), during a ceremony at the Chinese Embassy, Washington, D.C., 8 March 1947. Seven U.S. Naval officers including Fleet Admiral Nimitz were decorated for their "Outstanding Service to China" during World War II. Dr. Koo bestowed on them the Grand Cordon of Pao Ting. Fleet Admiral William D. Leahy, USN, and Mrs. Koo are at right.
