Caption: A cargo vessel launched in 1902 by Union Iron Works, San Francisco, California. Acquired by Navy, 12 March 1918. Commissioned, 23 March 1918. Decommissioned and returned to Shipping Board, 5 August 1919. Served as N.O.T.S. (2 May-11 December 1918) transporting horses and supplies to France. Converted to a troopship and joined the cruiser and transport Force, Atlantic Fleet, transporting men.
