Description: (Dutch Freighter, 1916) In port, possibly when she was inspected by the Third Naval District on 25 March 1918. She is wearing Dutch neutrality markings. This ship was acquired by the U.S. Navy on 21 March 1918 and placed in commission as USS Buitenzorg (ID-2541) on 29 March 1918. Following service with the Naval Overseas Transportation Service, she was returned to her owners on 17 July 1919. U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command Photograph.
