Caption: The insignia for USS PIVOT was designed in 1957 by her then commanding officer, Lieutenant Commander O.F. Rapelyea, USN. The design of the background is taken from the old minecraft symbol. Superimposed over that is a silhouetted mine case, representing the mission of the ship. In the center of the mine is a white keystone, symbolizing the fact that the entire fleet can depend on the mine sweeping efforts of the PIVOT.
