Title: Insignia: USS INFLICT (MSO-456)
Caption: This insignia was adopted in 1960. It features a hand and forearm in the act of snapping the mooring cable of a mine. Taken together, the arm and the mine represent the letter "I" thus symbolizing the ship's nickname: "The Mighty 'I'." The numbers inside the blue mine show that the INFLICT is a member of Mine Division Seventy-One. The colors used are those of the United States Flag.
