NH 64738-KN Insignia: USS HADDOCK (SSN-621)

Insignia: USS HADDOCK (SSN-621)
Title: Insignia: USS HADDOCK (SSN-621)
Caption: This insignia was adopted in 1966, and resulted from a design contest won by Thomas Dunaway, of Pascagoula, Mississippi. The twelve stars in the border and banner are reminders of the previous HADDOCK, which made twelve war patrols during World War II. The blue field represents the ocean depths, home of the SSN. In this field are a nuclear submarine, and an electron orbit symbol. The latter figure represents the ship's nuclear power plant.
