Caption: This insignia was received by the Naval History Division in 1959. The design was selected by a vote of the crew after a ship-wide contest was held while enroute to Yokosuka, Japan, from Long Beach. It features typical minesweeping equipment and a mine. The sky blue upper, and sea blue lower, background make an appropriate nautical background for the insignia.
