Caption: This insignia was received by the Naval History Division in November, 1958. The ship's main missions of rescue and salvage are pointed out by the use of those words in the border of the insignia. One of the CURRENT's main "weapons," a divers' helmet, serves as the center piece. The background anchor serves to tie the insignia to the sea.
