Caption: Plaque commemorating the landing of Rear Admiral Charles A. Lockwood, USN; Commander Joseph L. Thew, USN; Brigadier B.E. Klein, Australian Army; and Lieutenant Colonel J.S. Young, Australian Marines, at Exmouth Gulf, 700 miles north of Perth, Australia, on September 11, 1942. "Potshot" was the code name for the refueling base established at Exmouth Gulf during World War II. The plaque is mounted on the flagstaff at the Exmouth Gulf Base.
