Caption: Insignia: Adopted in 1964, when this activity was established. It was designed to represent the vital nature of logistics support to the Polaris weapons system. Polaris is symbolized by the constellation Ursa Major and the North Star. The national importance of this weapons system is indicated by the large missile and its super-imposed SSBN. The essential value of logistic support to Polaris is symbolized by the Navy Supply Corps submarine insignia placed at the top of the PMOPAC insignia. Date of photo: 1968.
