Title: Insignia: USS THREADFIN (SS-410)
Caption: This insignia was adopted in 1966. It was originated by the ship's then Executive Officer, Lieutenant Commander Edward A. Kingston. It features a symbolic shield flanked by the submariner's dolphins. On the shield are figures relating to the ship and to undersea power: a fish of the threadfin (ploynemidae) family; a torpedo, the ship's main weapon; the trident of Neptune, ruler of the seas; and the torch of freedom. This copy of the insignia was received from the ship in 1968. Date of Photo: 1968.
