Title: Insignia: USS REMORA (SS-487)
Caption: This patch was received in 1958 from SUBPAC. It represent a modification of the ship's original insignia. The REMORA's insignia since her commissioning in January, 1946, had been a Donald Duck cartoon originally prepared by the Walt Disney Studios. The REMORA was represented as Donald Duck sitting in a deck chair on the back of a shark. In this, the newer insignia, Donald Duck has been replaced by the Golden Buddha which has, by usage, become representative of the ship. Date of Photo: 1968.
