Insignia: Tank Landing Ship Division Forty One
Title: Insignia: Tank Landing Ship Division Forty One
Caption: This insignia was on file at the Naval History Division in 1967. The round escutcheon of the insignia implies that LST Division 41 is, at all times, a guardian and defender of the nation. The fouled anchor and helmet connote the amphibious nature of the LST and the Navy-Marine Corps team. Superimposed on the anchor is a shield, in the shape of an LST's open bow doors, which bears the divisional numeral. The shield, and the halberd wheat stalks, portray strength, readiness, and versatility in peace and war. The six stars represent LST Division 41's six ships. The endless rope of the inner border symbolizes divisional unity of purpose and integrity. The colors used are those of the Navy and the U.S. flag. Photographed in 1968.
