NH 65438-KN Insignia: Mine Squadron Three

Insignia: Mine Squadron Three
Title: Insignia: Mine Squadron Three
Caption: This insignia was received in 1958. It is designed in the form of a heraldic shield, quartered by honor and sinister bars. Emblazoned on the quarters are significant symbols: the identifying numeral of minor three; the trident of seapower; the international underwater tasks shapes; and the torii, which symbolizes the squadron's operating area--the orient. The honor bar represents the honorable aspects of the naval service, while the bar sinister indicates the sinister nature of undersea warfare. The honor theme is further accentuated by the blue and gold of the design. Date of Photo: 1968.
