NH 65942-KN Insignia: USS JULIUS A. FURER (DEG-6)

Insignia: USS JULIUS A. FURER (DEG-6)
Title: Insignia: USS JULIUS A. FURER (DEG-6)
Caption: This insignia, adopted in 1967, combines symbols of the ship's namesake with those representing the mission of a DEG. The eagle's head represents the ideals of the crew, and supports the motto, which is translated, "prey to no one." The helmet represents the readiness of the ship to defend those under its escort. The three bars on the shield indicate JULIUS A. FURER's capability to project power over, under, and on the sea. The colors of the insignia, as well as the helmet and shield shapes, were taken from the Furer family coat of arms. Rear Admiral Furer is also commemorated in the two stars used in the border.
