Title: William Henry Stayton
Caption: Was born in Delaware and was admitted to the US Naval Academy, Annapolis Maryland, class of 1881. Upon graduation, he took his commission in the Marine Corps, however, he resigned it on 30 June 1891, when he was a lieutenant. Due to the Spanish-American War, however, he was reappointed to the rank of lieutenant on 18 June 1898. He was discharged as a lieutenant on 28 October and was then first president of the US Naval Academy Alumni Association from 1931-39. He died on 13 July 1942, at Smyra Delaware.
