Caption: American powder horn made for a Lieutenant Simon Jefferds in 1759, engraved with two small warships (a brig and a cutter) and a file of frock-coated Marines, as well as flying fishes and a running deer. The inscription reads "Lieutenant Simon Jefferds of Wells age 23y - his horn made at Lebanon March the 9 day: 1759: - I pouder with my brother Baul: A: herolike do conkure all."
