Title: Insignia: USS SEDGWICK COUNTY (LST-1123)
Caption: This emblem was adopted in 1967, and was designed by members of the ship's crew. The shield is divided into four symbolic quadrants, as follows: Upper left: range markers used to guide an LST to the center of a beach; Upper right: a stern anchor, a primary piece of LST equipment; Lower left: a chess knight, taken from the emblem of Landing Ship Squadron Three, to which SEDGWICK COUNTY belonged to at the time; Lower right: a compass rose, symbolic of the many areas where LST operations have proved essential. This patch was received from the ship in 1969.
