Title: Insignia: Destroyer Division 172
Caption: This emblem, seen here as an embroidered insignia patch, was in use in 1968, when the division included the destroyers: HOPEWELL, LYNDE McCORMICK, RICHARD S. EDWARDS, and FRANK KNOX. The background colors of the design are taken from the old "division" signal flag. The seahorse device is lifted from the insignia of Destroyer Squadron 17, parent squadron of Destroyer Division 172.
