Description: Off Lewes, Delaware, on 16 March 1949, just after she was returned to the U.S. Navy by the Soviet Union. She had served as the Soviet Navy ship Murmansk since April 1944. By the time this photograph was taken, Milwaukee had been repainted to remove the Soviet-style white waterline stripe. U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command Photograph.
