Description: Test drop from a Grumman TBF-1 Avenger torpedo bomber flying off Gould Island, Newport Torpedo Station, Rhode Island, in April 1942. Plane's air speed was 139 knots and its altitude was 339 feet. Sequential camera photograph, showing the trajectory of the torpedo in relation to the forward motion of the aircraft.
