Photo #: NH 88526 Scuttling of the French Fleet at Toulon
Title: Scuttling of the French Fleet at Toulon
Description: 27 November 1942 Destroyer Valmy (right) sunk at the Forges et Chantiers de la Méditerranée shipyard at La Seyne (adjacent to Toulon) in December 1942, shortly after she was scuttled. The sunken ship partially visible at left may be the destroyer Mogador. The original print was received from the Office of Naval Intelligence. Note that ship identification in the ONI caption is partially incorrect. The ship at left is definitely not Bison. U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command Photograph.
