Caption: Ship's rig indicates photo was taken upon her return to the U.S. in late December 1945. If so, this is a very early, and possibly informal example of reversion to large peacetime hull numbers. Note the long "Homeward Bound" pennant and Japanese flags flying. The U.S. ensign is nowhere in sight.
