Title: Mare Island Navy Yard
Caption: View shows an unidentified Marine standing on the fantail of the ex-USS YARBOROUGH (DD-314) that had been decommissioned 29 May 1930. Ship in the background is USS CHICAGO (CA-29) which was not commissioned until 9 March 1931, placing the date of this photo as sometime between those two dates, as the former was being stripped for ultimate scrapping (February 1932). Note legend on caisson of dry dock in the immediate background.
