Description: (American Motor Tug, 1918) In port, prior to her World War I Navy service. This small tug was acquired by the Navy on 21 May 1918. Placed in service as USS Amphitrite (ID # 3028), she was renamed Nerita on 8 November 1918. The craft was transferred to the War Department on 4 March 1920. U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command Photograph.
