Title: S.S. Carib
Description: (American Freighter, 1916) In port, possibly in late 1917 while being prepared for Navy service at the Norfolk Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company yard, Norfolk, Virginia. Built at Detroit, Michigan, in 1916, this freighter was transferred to the Navy on 27 December 1917 and placed in commission as USS Carib (ID # 1765). She was decommissioned and returned to her owners, the Clyde Steamship Company of New York City, on 27 January 1919. U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command Photograph.
