Caption: Being expended in torpedo tests, off San Diego California on 8 March 1962. This view shows the ship sinking after being hit by the second torpedo. Note LCM dangling from the stern. It was lashed to the target ship to provide propulsion, and broke free just as the HOWORTH went down. Torpedos were fired by COMSUBFLOT ONE.
