Description: Photo #: S-511-48 49.5 ft. Tank Lighter - Design Study Preliminary design plan prepared during examination of landing craft proposals. This plan, dated December 1941, is for a 23-ton Landing Craft, Mechanised (LCM) type boat, with the tank deck above the water line. A table is included comparing this proposed tank lighter with 48-foot and 50-foot Higgins boats, and the Bureau of Ships' 47-foot tank lighter. Scale of the original drawings is 1/4 = 1'.
