UA 437.04.010 Typical burraburra

UA 437.04.010 A Typical "burraburra" or underground dwelling used by the Aleuts. The man is Mike Hodikoff, Chief of Attu Village. In recent years the white traders have built frame houses in the islands and the "burraburras" are to some extent being abandodned; but they are easier to heat and safe from violent winds, and many families still prefer them.
