This photograph was printed on an advertising card for her builder, the Matthews Boat Company of Port Clinton, Ohio. See Photo # NH 100860-A-KN for a reproduction of the reverse side of the original card. Clarinda was acquired by the U.S. Navy on 5 July 1917 and placed in commission on 21 November 1917 as USS Clarinda (SP-185). Following more than a decade of post-World War I service, she was sold on 1 June 1931. U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command Photograph.
