Description: (Identification code T33) At sea during World War II. Photo was dated 1942 by ONI. Note the alterations to this ship, among them 20mm Oerlikon anti-aircraft machine guns added on the forecastle (by the bridge front) and on the main deck (alongside the after deckhouse), removal of the after 130mm gun and fitting of davits and paravanes in an installation similar to the British Two Speed Destroyer Sweep (TSDS). Photos that appear to have been taken at the same time and by the same camera show two similar destroyers (T31 and T32) and the battleship Lorraine. They may have been taken after these ships joined the Allies. The original print was received from the Office of Naval Intelligence. U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command Photograph.
