Description: Mounted amidships on a 2400-tonne type destroyer, circa 1939. Another ship of the same type is in the background. Both destroyers are of the later version of this eighteen-ship group, with their forward torpedo tubes mounted in pairs near the deck edges. In the extreme left foreground is the torpedo tube breech of the ship from which the photo was taken. Note the device mounted atop the 37mm gun.
