Title: Insignia: USS CHURCHILL COUNTY (LST-583)
Caption: Insignia adopted in 1963 after the ship was transferred from the Pacific to the Atlantic Fleet. A composite of designs submitted by the crew, it is similar to the previous insignia except that the ship is shown moving between the oceans instead of operating in the Pacific. The Latin motto is also a new addition, and is translated: "train for war, pray for peace." Photographed in 1968.
