Caption: Insignia adopted in 1960. It features a mine and broom, representing a "clean sweep," surrounded by a horseshoe magnet. The magnet symbolizes influence minesweeping and its shape stands for good luck. The broom also is supposed to represent Neptune's trident, symbol of the ruler of the seas. The colors red and blue represent "hot stuff" and the ocean deep respectively. The Latin phrase is translated, "conquest." Photographed in 1968.
