Insignia: Fleet Training Center, Norfolk
Title: Insignia: Fleet Training Center, Norfolk
Caption: This insignia was adopted in 1963. It features a navy blue shield with a gold chevron dividing it into the three zones of naval operation: surface, air and submarine. The skills taught in the schools at FTC, Norfolk, are represented by the enlisted rating badges and line officer star on the chevron. They include: damage control, combat information center, navigation leadership, anti-submarine warfare, communications, and undersea weapons. The supporters of the shield are from the insignia of COMTRALANT. These torches over crossed tridents symbolize the learning of naval skills. The torsk above the shield shows the colors of the command: blue and gold.
