Caption: Armed harbor-defense ram built at Bath, Maine. Steel, 2155 tons displacement, by Bath Iron Works for U. S. Navy. Assigned to North Atlantic Squadron. After very limited cruising, decommissioned in 1898. Stricken from Navy list in 1909 and used as floating platform for testing projectiles. Pen and ink drawing by Samuel Ward Stanton.
