Captain, 1747. Rear Admiral, 1777. Vice Admiral, 1779. Admiral, 1787. Admiral of the Fleet, 1799. Parker commanded a squadron off America, 1775-77, and was involved in the unsuccessful attack on Charleston in 1776 and the forcing of Hudson River in the same year. He commanded the Jamaica Station in 1777-82. Parker was also an early patron of Nelson.
