Gillette, USN, Commander Anti-Submarine Warfare Group Three, and senior member of the decommissioning party. Also presented to Captain Nearman were: The National Order of Vietnam, Fifth Class; and the Vietnamese Gallantry Cross, with palm. At pier 2, Long Beach Naval Shipyard, California, 13 February 1970.
