Caption: April 1948-July 1952. Bureau of Naval Personnel created the PH rate for those personnel who perform general naval photography afloat and ashore. It was placed in Group VI (misc) Branch of the general rating structure. New emergency service ratings to be activated in case of war are: PHG Cameraman, PHA aerial cameraman, PHR camera repair, PHL lab technician, PHM microfilm technician.
